N2 Campus

Background

After nine months of Nosiphus Studios, and against the backdrop of a bad series of events that forever cast late 2017 and early 2018 in a bad light, Sean came to the decision to give the HQ another radical redesign in March 2018. Multiple other factors also contributed to this.

The largest of these factors was the upcoming version migration. After nearly four years of playing on Minecraft 1.7.10, mod development for Minecraft 1.12.2 had finally matured to the point where a migration to the new version was being considered. This necessitated a map reset, as the map would not carry over from Telkit 5.0 (now called Telkit I) to Telkit 6 (now called Telkit II). There was also a change in feeling about what Nosiphus' purpose really was. Nosiphus Studios had been designed with content production in mind, but we'd started to shift back towards software development by this point. When the new server launched on June 10, 2018, the N2 campus began its construction.

Construction

Like the N Tower before it, the N2 Campus went through several incarnations across several maps on the server. The original 2018 incarnation was small and rather intimate in its design compared to the others. It abandoned Nosiphus Studios' modular concept and returned to something more basic. It hosted two office buildings, a content production office, a software development center, a hotel, a server building, an indoor pool and cinema, as well as a building that was set to become the gym and party center.

Remodel

This design was rather short-lived, as was the map it was built on. After a few months of using a seed and generator carried over from a Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 server we had, we returned to the normal world generator using a different seed. The campus got a rebuild that eliminated the hotel, moved most offices around, focused on private cinemas rather than one big public one, and moved the indoor pool into one of the old office buildings, alongside a new lounge. Additionally, a new presentation theater was built, which boasted a rooftop bistro. This version was copied over onto several different maps, as the world was changed several times in 2019 until we settled on one in October.

Migration

The building received one final change in late 2019, when a map reset caused it to be rebuilt. However, this change was rather minor, simply eliminating unused buildings and keeping the rest of the structure as it was. This version lasted for the remainder of Telkit II's lifespan as our main pack, which ended on November 24, 2020.

Complete Overhaul

The final incarnation of N2 was radically different than its earlier versions, completely eschewing the original's layout and design philosophy, and going for something entirely different. Glass was in big-time, but a sense of completion still wasn't. Compartmentalization replaced old Nosiphus staff positions with senior vice presidents heading up specific, smaller departments. At the time, there were departments for design, engineering, information technology, press, and a general administration overseeing all of them.

N2 gained a new focus, with the idea being that it should encompass all sorts of activities for employees to partake in when they had downtime, such as a cafe, a large outdoor pool, a small sitting area with two palm trees and a hammock, and other elements of relaxation. That being said, attempting to build for it was difficult, as the focus on glass made it very hard to subdivide the buildings with separate rooms, so the project was eventually shelved.

This final incarnation of the N2 campus was our headquarters from the day Telkit III (then called Telkit 9.0) became our main pack on November 24, 2020, through to its replacement by the second version of the Classic Design on May 11, 2021.
