Flying Clown House

Built by Sean: Sunday, February 24, 2013

Background

The original Nosiphus HQ, now known as the "Multicolored Battleship Mast" or the "Flying Clown House" due to its outlandish appearance and complete disregard for physics, was Sean's first attempt to construct a headquarters for Nosiphus.

From Sean's first day playing Minecraft on January 3, 2013 through to February 24, 2013, he had created several Minecraft worlds, the latest of which shared a commonality: a flying house made of light blue wool. When the world that would house this HQ was originally generated, it was the first thing to be built. The original version had a satellite and a receiver, although the receiver would be removed fairly soon thereafter.

The position of the flying house would be the main problem as to why the HQ would gain such a strange shape later on. This HQ was used on the server from July 25, 2013 until August 22, 2013.

Construction

The construction of the HQ began in late February 2013, and Sean attempted to follow the building plans as set out in the 2013 Nosiphus notebook. The ground floor contained the lobby as well as the helicopter launch pad, although neither would be finished as the design documentation would specify.

The problems began on the second floor. As construction began on the second floor, it would become obvious fairly quickly that as the HQ began to rise, it would eventually intersect the flying house. Sean decided to create a small subsection for the second and third floors, which can be seen as the cyan column between the white ground and the light blue house.

The positioning of the building meant that placing the elevator entrance to head directly into the house would have traffic walk directly over the toilet, so a walkway was constructed connecting the elevator landing to the front door.

An important factor had to be considered at first: lighting. Sean had started playing Minecraft in creative mode, and was unaware of lighting blocks (i.e. torches and glowstone), meaning that the building would gather its light from the sun. This necessitated glass floors and ceilings, remnants of which can be seen atop the house.
