Recent as of Wednesday, December 1, 2021 - It's been a while since the last update was posted, and quite a bit has changed in the interceding months. Here's just a few things to bring you up to speed.

First of all, of course, merry Christmas and happy holidays, and as per usual the Christmas theme has been activated.

The biggest thing that has changed is a significant reduction in the Nosiphus Archives. The classic Google Sites have been downloaded and archived, but they haven't been reuploaded yet. Now, as has been stated, a full-scale rewrite of the Nosiphus Archives has been planned for a couple years now, but we just haven't found the time to sit down and rearchitect it from the ground up yet.

The new Google Sites has also gone live, so some test sites have been activated there. Now, it is unlikely that we will transition back to Google Sites for a multitude of reasons, the biggest being the design aesthetic we use here couldn't be easily replicated on the new Sites (or the classic Sites, for that matter). Never say never, but it is not very likely.

The elephant in the room, however, is of course Minecraft 1.18 and its effects on future Nosiphus servers. Well, here's the situation: we are not planning to relaunch a public vanilla server anytime soon. As far as Telkit is concerned, there are a series of challenges we face moving beyond Minecraft 1.16.

The biggest challenge facing Telkit at the moment is that neither MultiMC nor Technic support Forge 1.17+ yet, so no testing environment has been created to develop against yet. We have considered looking at Fabric, but while that could go forward earlier, most of the major mods in Telkit do not have Fabric versions available. Obviously, the Minecraft 1.18 terrain generator is a breaking change generator, and the current Telkit server uses the TerraForged generator, which will also need to update to 1.18. For the immediate future, Telkit will continue to receive updates for 1.16.5.

Recent as of Thursday, September 2, 2021 - We have a few changes coming up, most notably, the server is returning to being a locally hosted machine after a month stint on a hosting provider, and it will also be returning to its former status as a server for a group of friends.

We're going to be doing a bit of refocusing over the next few months. In addition, Google Sites is closing, which means our older websites may become unavailable. Sean's been planning a complete rewrite of the Nosiphus Archives anyway, so we'll try to have them back up and available as soon as possible.

Recent as of Tuesday, August 24, 2021 - Well, it's certainly been a while since we posted anything as a news update. Truth be told, that's because of how much has been going on in our personal lives. The vanilla server has been discontinued, Telkit for 1.16 is under continuous development and has moved to a hosting provider.

Today, however, is a major anniversary. Nosiphus is now thirteen years old. Over those thirteen years, and especially over the last almost-nine years, we went from being a glint in the eye of a child to being a name with players from all over the world. What started as two friends on a vanilla server at 11:30 at night became a regularly updated modpack with custom-written mods and an international playerbase.

We've dabbled in gaming, politics, series, and all sorts of things. For me personally, it's hard to describe the feeling I get from knowing that all these things we've done would likely never had happened without a well-timed return from the restroom to see a certain commercial.

We've still got some great things in the pipeline, and I can't wait to see those things realized. For those of you who have joined me on this thirteen-year adventure, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. - Sean

Recent as of Wednesday, March 3, 2021 - Well, it's certainly been a while since the last update was posted. Since last November, a few things have happened. Telkit has been modified quite a bit, and has returned to 1.16.5 on version 10.0. Telkit 10 is also receiving a Sphax PureBDcraft patch collection for its modded textures, although it is taking a while because many textures need to be drawn from scratch.

The BSL shader that ships with Telkit and Telkit Legacy has had some slight adjustments made to it. There are a set of default color settings that are delivered alongside it, and we have also made a modification to the shader's block properties to enable support for modded blocks. This includes things like modded leaves and plants now blowing in the wind.

The 1.16.5 server is up and running, so you can access it at any time.
